The day of the great blackout, nothing here went dark
28 April 2025, 12:33: total blackout across the peninsula. Our servers in Barcelona did not shut down: instant UPS, generators and continuous service.
The Dell decade: from Registered to Preferred Partner
December 2014: Dell certifies us as a Preferred Partner. In 2016, the Cybersecurity competency — with CSSA engineers in-house since 2010.
The private cloud matures: Hyper-V 2012 R2 and SPLA
2014: we renewed processors, moved to Hyper-V 2012 R2 and signed the Microsoft SPLA agreement that introduced pay-as-you-go licensing.
A visit to MareNostrum
October 2009: the Barcelona Supercomputing Center opens its doors — a supercomputer inside a chapel. We left with our yardstick recalibrated.
2009: the year that changed everything
Three data centres running at once, the “barcelona2” host debuting Windows Server 2008 R2, MDaemon 10.10 and a week-by-week platform chronicle.
Amsterdam and the expansion · 2007–2012

Work at the Tier-0 in Geneva: the Higgs boson seminar, the data centre that processes the LHC, and web acceleration tests we brought home.
2009: Intel sent us its first SSDs to put to the test
February 2009: X25-E samples (SLC cells) arrive straight from Intel. A full study — RAID, SQLIO, native versus Hyper-V — with a published report.
Notes from the machine room (2008–2010)
The story of our growth told in iron: 8-core PowerEdge 2950 IIIs, MD1000 arrays, RAM jumps from 48 to 72GB and 15,000 rpm SAS disks.
2007: when we were already auditing email
The Q4 2007 threat report and 100% detection in independent audits by Commtouch and AV-Test. Empirical verification was already the house hallmark.
The leap to Amsterdam — and the first Dells
September 2007: our debut at the Databarn data centre in Schiphol, and eight days later we announced our first Dell PowerEdge servers.
