In July 1999, before we were even called elstir, our first client was a marine business — its website ran on a server connected over ISDN — the digital line of the day — from home. Today it is still in our portfolio. Few sector credentials carry more weight than that.
A seasonal business doesn't forgive downtime in season.
Recreational boating packs the year into a few months: sales, charter, maintenance and the shop all bill when the sun is out, and an outage in July costs what in January would barely be noticed. We design these companies' technology with that calendar in mind: reinforced continuity when it matters, and the deeper work in the calm of winter.
We know the full cycle of the marine business from the inside — from the online trade in spares and accessories with its deep catalogue, to the email that connects head office, pontoon and supplier. We didn't learn the sector from a dossier: we've been operating it since the last century.
We began by managing their website and their email in 1999. Today we also manage their e-commerce. Twenty-seven years of uninterrupted relationship: older than the elstir brand itself.
The website we built for them back then still ranks on Google, years later.
On 28 April 2025, during the blackout that hit the Iberian Peninsula, this platform kept on serving.

Our relationship with the marine sector is literally our founding story: the first domain we operated belonged to a marine business, on a hand-built server. That website passed through Houston, Amsterdam and Barcelona; it survived three data centre migrations and more than two decades of change — and it's still online, with us.
