23 years in continuous operation.
We are not a startup with storytelling: we have been a company since 2003 — practising the trade since 1998 — with infrastructure that has lived in three countries. This is the track record.
It all starts at home: two hand-assembled servers on a 19" rack given to us by the RETEX team, back when this was little more than an idea. ISDN connectivity and the first tests, still in a personal capacity.
In July the first client arrives: a marine company whose website we served over ISDN from home. Still a client today.
Two years after the two servers at home, the platform migrates to its first professional data centre: Houston.
On 31 October, elstir.com is registered — renewed, incidentally, until 2033. Months earlier, our first serious business email project was already in operation. The brand is born with the craft already well practised.
The first piece on our technical blog is published. 22 years later, that archive is still online — you can read it on this very site.
The leap to Europe: from Houston to the Databarn data centre in Amsterdam (Schiphol) and, eight days later, the house's first Dell PowerEdge servers. We also sponsor the Barcelona DrupalCon.
Elstir S.L. is incorporated and the alliance with SonicWall begins, as our perimeter security partner — a relationship that continues today with CSSA certification, its official technical accreditation. In the rack: the 8-core PowerEdge 2950 III.
The year that changed everything: three data centres in operation (Houston, Amsterdam and the landing in Barcelona on Nexica), the registration with RIPE — the European internet registry — of our autonomous system AS49008 (a network with a name of its own on the map of the internet), and the samples of the first SSDs that Intel sent us to put to the test.
Work at CERN: the Higgs boson seminar, the Tier-0 data centre, and some web acceleration tests that ended up in our hosting platform.
The private cloud matures: Hyper-V 2012 R2, the SPLA agreement with Microsoft that ushers in pay-as-you-go, and in December, the Dell Preferred Partner certification.
Dell recognises our Cybersecurity competency, with CSSA-certified engineers on staff — an accreditation the house has held since 2010.
Digital transformation and the Kit Digital programme — the Spanish SME digitalisation grant scheme — as an accredited provider. The platform consolidates entirely in Barcelona: our own network, ENS High (the top level of Spain's national security framework) and the AMD EPYC + NVMe generation.
Technical decisions taken by technical people.
The elstir team comes from network and systems engineering — with Cisco certifications in switching, routing, remote access and troubleshooting on staff — and that shapes the character of the house: the person looking after you understands the problem because they have solved hundreds like yours.
